$300 headphones for Death/Black metal?

I am currently looking for something to replace my a700's. I primarily listen to stuff like Deathspell Omega, In The Woods, Peste Noire, Beyond Creation, Obscura, Spawn Of Possession, Atheist, Gigan, Drudkh, etc.

What do you guys recommend? I really liked my a700's for their clarity and their stage, and I prefer a colder highly detailed sound. Here is a pic of how I generally EQ my a700's:

I was thinking about getting a pair of q701's and this sound card, which would cost about $300.

These cans seem to be like an upgraded version of my cans with a similar sound signature, does this seem like a good choice?

The Q701 is a great headphone especially if you like percussion in your metal.  They really perform amazingly well there.  I find the AH-D2000 to be just a tad better as they give a flatter response, but the Q701 would serve you well.

The AH-D2000 is a closed can and is in the Top 10 list at Headroom.

If you have not already heard them Tantric is really well produced and engineered hard rock band.  I find myself listening to Atreyu's Lead Sail and Paper Anchors too from that genre.

Why not get an Ultrasone based on your description of what you like to hear? HFI 2400 or PRO750.

Very best,
