AKG K702 Desktop Amp/Dac $1200 Budget

Hello everyone,

I recently purchased a pair of AKG K702s and am very content with them, having already burned them in. For mobile use I use my iPod Classic 160g with a Fiio E11 amp listening to ALAC and Mp4s. For home use, I use a Pro-ject Debut III w/ a Sumiko Pearl cartridge, a Pro-ject Phono Box II, and a Denon AVR 1611, listening mostly to vinyl, movies, and games through my PS3. I was wondering if you guys had any good suggestions for a desktop amp and DAC-I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks.

If you're using Mac computer you can try out the Apogee Duet/ll, and this will be the a good and cheap option. The next level for desktop PC computers will be RME card as DAT, and for the hps amps you can chose between the Violectric's and the SPL's, but this option will be much more expensive.

The new HA-160Ds could be an interesting choice. Smaller than the D version, with a powerful amp and nice dac section. I have used the HA160 (only amp) and it drives akg with no problems.
