Hey all,
I just picked up a mint, and I mean "MINT" pair locally. Seller was the local Sennhieser rep. (retired) and he was selling this pair as used but they had only been taken out of the box and listened to for an hour or so, been in his closet ever since. He cut me a pretty darn good deal. And boy I could really tell they had hardly ever been touched. Absolutely immaculate.
So I have them running in right now.
I've been wanting a pair ever since the last meet where I got to try a pair with my OTL amp. I also had the chance to compare to the HD650's and HD800's and I gotta tell ya' I liked the 600's better.
My question are....
-What's the typical burn in time (if you believe in that sort of thing, I do)?
-I've seen references to different drivers, which are the more desirable and how do you tell?
-The serial on the box is handwritten and says "97089", does that mean these are from 1997?
-What were the production years for the 600's?
Thanks for any answers. I really don't know much about this line. Over my journey I've steered clear of the Senn's due to the rumored "veil" because I'm kind of a detail junkie. But after trying them I found the laid back signature to be a refreshing change from my AKG's and Beyer's. There might be a fire sale coming up....just kidding.

BTW, the gentleman selling these had some great stories about hauling the Orpheus around and blowing people away with it while on sales calls.
