So we're settling on these sounding like sennheiser now? What's it gonna sound like next?

3 weeks have passed and I still haven't got these phonies...

Tried these for a couple of days, let 3 others try it for a couple of hours each. We all came to the conclusion these things are trash.

edit: I'll post the why soon

I don't normally post comments here (i prefer to lurk in the shadows) as i'm not an audiophile by a mile, but i still know what sound good when i hear it. So, i decided to post, (after reading your comment) my PM to the guy that started this thread below:

Hi Ranked,

I just want to say thank you for discovering and introducing this gem to the community. I stumbled on this thread 3+ weeks ago, and after reading through, I decided to buy the CK-700, the red CK-M700 and the Stereo In-ear Earphone with 3.5mm Jack (Black), and boy! was the wait work it?

I received my Meelec M6 2weeks ago and liked it, but that has been dumped by the white CK-700 which has become my go to iem. It's such a fun piece of kit. the bass goes way down, the mids and the highs are so good, i cant believe i paid £3.78 + shipping for it alone.

I use ZO2 ver 1 as an amp. Even at the highest settings, there was no distortions with the CK-700, unlike my Meelec M6. My source is Rockboxed Sansa Fuse 8GB and playing flac files. It handled every genre i threw at it pretty well. I mean, the bass is awesome and it wears very comfortable that i have it one now for 3 hrs without discomfort, unlike the M6 which gave me ear sores in my right ear.

I have gone back and re-read your thread and seen some negative comments from some including one that says it's 'thrash', which is purely snobbish 'garbage' comment. Anyway, it's all subjective impressions and one is entitled to one's opinion, but some do equate high price tag to quality or superiority, which i find annoying.

The other iems are good too, i haven't tested them as much as the CK-700, but my initial impressions about them returns good results. You'd understand my bias towards CK-700 and i have already place an order for 5 more which i will give away to my sisters for christmas gifts.

Thank you so much for this discovery and i hope others discover this thread, take the plunge and enjoy this as much as we do. One doesn't have to spend an arm and a leg to enjoy quality music. And yes, you can post this PM in the impression thread if you want.

Cheers,

Kieran.

I love threads like this. Everyone's brutally honest and no one's trying to hype things. I can't believe the other thread though. The OP's like a salesman. Of course, if you want to be brutally honest, you have to be brutally specific as well. Why did you say they were trash? Was it the build quality, sound quality, fit, etc. Things like that. Comments like "these suck, plz throw away", are not going to help anyone who's looking to try these.

These I ordered even though here are  some not so positive comments. The other cheap hype phones I didn't order. 30$ shipping fees killed my interest (at least for now).

Should get mine soon. Have ordered 4 pairs including Kanen KM-92.

Yes, I've got them all. Everything is **** except CK-700, which are reviewed in this topic. Especially CK-800 is ubber ****! Well, I didn't actually expected them to sound that well, but that bad...

CK-700 are really good with foam tips.

Tell me all these statements are true

1. Midrange is not recessed

2. Black CK-700 has identical sound signature to the white one

3. Strain relief in black is all metal

Thanks heaps for sharing your experiences. I’m glad someone else is enjoying these as much as I am =). Agreed about the bass, the subbass has to be the best thing about these! Astonishingly deep bass on “Excision – X Rated”, “Kimbra – Two Way Street” and “Bassotronics – Bass I Love You” (deepest bass notes ever at 2:42).  I’ve reposted your impressions on the first post, hope you don’t mind.

Detailed impressions from other members will be appreciated =)

Thanks for posting. I find it strange that my experiences differed so much to the two above who thought they were trash. I’m curious to know why they didn’t like them so I can find out if it’s a sound signature preference, batch quality issue or lack of burn in.

Good to know the ck-800's are ****, was gonna try them out. Is there much of a difference in the mids/treble when using foam tips? I still find mine a little hot sounding without a light filter mod.

  1. I think hte sound signature fits the “v shaped curve” profile.
  2. I haven’t used my black ck-700s much, so there’s a huge difference in the mids, but the treble and bass and overall sound signature is similar, so I believe they are identical.
  3. If you mean the Y splitter then no, it’s fully plastic and the same as the white. Looks identical to the one used on the Hippo VB, actually (and so do the tips). (http://www.anythingbutipod.com/forum/showthread.php?t=63831&page=2)

Thanks. I was asking about the housing, (3) which is completely metal in case of white ones

I just received mine. Pleasantly surprised and these are definitely worth the ~5€. I think these will become my new to go phones.

I am rather new to iems and I can't really even tell much about how these sound. I don't even try. For ~5€ you should give these a try yourself.

I thought I would give these a quick listen straight out of the box, but the quick listen turns out to stretch for the rest of the day.

Same experience with me. Like you my only experience with iems is with Meelec M6 and i hardly touch it ever since i got the CK-700. Strange thing happened during burn-in. Initially, it sounded okey. then 30 minutes later, i thought i have blown the driver; it sounded so tinny i literally disposed of it. Later seeing my 2 year old daughter playing with it, I decided to give it another go only to be blown away.

Tonight, i let my wife had a listen; big mistake! Now, she wants it as her own. She can't believe this cost only £3.78 plus shipping from China. The bass, mids, treble, instrument separation and soundstage is so unbelievable, i have had to place another order as backups.

Wish there'd be more reviews.
