Hi guys.

I am looking for a new amp to replace my govibe martini amp. I am looking for an amp that is fun and engaging yet at the same time doesnt muddle up the clarity. I listen to most genres of music, with more emphasis on classical music as im a classically train musician and mainstream pop/ rnb music and abit of jazz.

I currently own a shure se425 and a esw9. This decision has been bugging me for like a few months and i havent come to a conclusion yet. Please help me guys!

Thanks in Advance.

Hi. My source is iPod 6g. And my file formats are either in ALAC or AIFF

Well the Predator is a dac/amp while the others are just amps. If you dont need the dac the p51 is similar to the predator.

It would be good to have a dac around. Because i tend to listen to most of berliner philharmonic's concerts over at the digitalconcerthall. However, Im not hard press for a dac imo. Just that i am looking for an upgrade to my rig and i was hoping to do an upgrade to my amp first.

I was actually thinking if i should go for the continental or the sr-71b. However, if i get the sr-71b means i need to get balanced cables for my shure for the full effect right?

I haven't heard the Protector or Voyager.  I've owned the RX mkI, Pico Slim, Pico Amp/Dac and heard the Predator  You really should put the Pico Slim and Pico Amp/Dac in the mix.  To these old ears, the Slim is one of the better portable amps I've heard and the Pico Amp/Dac equally good as an amp with a Dac that is excellent.  Ignore if you have considered them and ruled them out.  I just thought it was worth mentioning.

Hi,

Other than the ALO RX MkII. I've actually owned or heard the listed amps at one point or another.

I've owned SE420 and heard ESW9 on several occasions.

Voyager might work with your 425 if the sound sig is similar to 420 but will definitely work well with ESW9.

However, to me I felt that Voyager lacks the extension that RSA amps have, compared to my Mustang, which I sold the voyager for.

Voyager is not suitable for most IEMs imo, hisses too much.

Predator have a dark and warm sound sig compared to Protector and Mustang. And might be too dark for your ESW9?

I use dacport for desktop thus didn't really factor in the need of a DAC in my portable amps.

Currently, I am using Mustang and Protector, with an incoming SR71A.

I use protector with a balanced to 3.5mm female adaptor. It gives my UM3X w/ twag v2 a warm analog sound via my imod.

The SE input of the protector reduces the sound stage, but retains most of the sound sig.

I have yet tried direct balanced input and is curious with the result too.

Mustang is a lot more energetic and exciting. I think you should give Mustang a try.

Hi guys,

I just bought a new iem recently and they are the se535 ltd-j. I auditioned it awhile ago and i fell in love with it. So i decided to let go of my se425 and get the se535ltd-j.

currently my setup is as such ipod classic 120gb > govibe martini amp > se535 ltd-j (when they arrive). My music are all in ALAC.

so now i just need an amp upgrade. I just emailed RWA and Craig regarding their imods. So that settles the source.

What i am actually concern is that is it better to get the CLAS rather then an imod?

I did alot of reading this few weeks and i was hoping you can do a comparison of the SR71A vs the Mustang vs the Protector.

I was thinking if i should just go and get the SR-71b however i have no idea where to get my cables for the shures from.

However, came another issue. the ALO CONTINENTAL. reading the reviews just make me want to get my hands on one.

So head-fiers some HELP here please. I am going crazy with choosing an amp.
