The mod i did was a tip from SennFreak, to cover the bottom 8 rows of vents with tape essentially. So far ive noticed no difference on that part.

 

Also, it keeps saying because of my browser security settings, the forum tool cant acess my clipboard directly, causing IMG links to not work. Info on how to fix that?

 

Edit: Dont waste your time with the mod from sennfreak. Im sorry but it did absolutely nothing, i just removed the tape, and yeah it literally does no good. The ONLY thing it does is allow less airflow, so if any of your mesh is covered by say your hand, it will get that tinny effect with much less coverage. So in otherwords a bad thing.

Looks very nice. I've been wanting to paint my HD555s for awhile now. Could you describe what paint and the painting process for me?

Its really simple honestly. However, with all painting, i HATE it. I used blue ceramic caliper paint from autozone for the grills(had it already) and satin black fusion paint for the body. Essentially take it apart, tape off parts, paint, fix messups (black is awfull with dust and dirt), repaint, fix again, repaint, and live with the minor messups lol. There are imperfections, especially considering its my first time doing it, but it looks nice, or so i think. 

 

Also the color of the blue isnt quite represented properly, but its close enough when flash is off.

I agree I'd like to have more info as well. It looks really good. One other question, I have HD 595's as well. Do you use an amp or anything with yours or do you just run straight to your sound card?

Looks good though.

 

The thing with painting (especially plastic) is prepping it right.  You need to remove all the grease and such first with rubbing alcohol or something.

 

Vinyl dye paint works pretty well.  Lots of thin coats (no joke, at least 4-5).  I've used this to paint a few keys on my old keyboard and it lasted pretty well.  No flaking at all although I did begin to wear it down a little (my hands sweat like crazy, especially using mouse/keyboard).  I've also seen the same stuff used to paint computer fans.

 

This is where I got all this.  This method is less likely to flake which makes it better for keyboards, mice, controllers, or whatever.  Headphones endure much less abuse than those.

 

 

OP: I know it's already done, this is just for others reading the thread tongue.gif.  Not meant to criticize you.  Krylon Fusion is also a good choice.

I did no sanding, however i did use rubbing alchohol to remove all wax, grease, etc. I have pictures on my phone that ill add of the process. And for listening i use a Fiio E7/E9 combo most of the time, running to my computer.
