I didn't know the LCD-2 is $1,188, that's too expensive.

I thought it was like, $800 or something.

LOL, we all find each other different. However, I'm canadian (french canadian on top of that!), and my accent doesn't differ from an american accent in hardly any way.

I must admit there is some truth to what they're saying.  I walk a few miles to and from the train here in SF and the obvliviousness (new word, patent pending) of people is rediculous.  Typically it is a combination of staring at their iPhone with headphones on but there are those that just plain can't walk and listen to music at the same time.

As much as I enjoy the personal space my closed portables offer me, I typically end up wearing KSC75's while I'm walking.  Sure the music is degraded but I can hear cars/bikers much easier.  Obviously the "death trap" aspect of this article is an exaggeration geared for marketing.

Ditto ~ I'm the same with my SR80i ~ two-way noise traffic works for me, it can save your life!

Thought you guys might appreciate the author's reply (Katie Cincotta, The Age Newspaper)

"Hi Guillaume,

Nice surprise to be contacted by you guys.

A passionate lot, wonderful to see.

Glad most of you enjoyed the piece.

 Cheerio,

 Katie"

I see, so the next guy I see with an SR80..  is you :)

Stop giving her so much flak yo~~~

Most people don't give two shiz bout headphones. Bose is top class.  and Beats is the new Bose for the younger generation.

Tech journalists do not care a bit about audio. They probably are interested in iPads and all those consumer stuff.

No it's all praise from my end! smily_headphones1.gif

No way should we take such exposure on a front page lightly ~ it might lead a few (or a lot more) Aussies to Head-Fi.

Can only be a good thing, Bose or Beats, who cares, as long as they get here, that's what matters.

Not that I'll be able to tell the difference between a grado and some retro house of marley headphones.

Bose and beats are easier to tell :P

very true.

Well damn, I posted in the other thread about this article.

Just to recap my thoughts:

I actually laughed when I read that comment about the $599 Bose headphones.

Oh it was nice when the guy being interviewed mentioned the HD25-II. Besides that just a bunch of consumer models.

I wish they could of mentioned the world of "super expensive headphones ($100+ for the uninformed public)" without diving into the Beats.

Why be on tram tracks anyway? I could see how if on a bike they could be wrong, still most loud stuff you can still hear with the volume low.

Have you heard how loud some people play their music through their iBuds? It's insane. I could actually hear the distorted mess from the opposite end of the bus I was on. Makes me wonder, how do you end up playing your music that loud in the first place? Normally your ears/brain tells you that this is way too loud.

Yep and it's the perfect way to kill them too (is that a bad thing? :)) ~ 4-5 months of that and the diaphragm starts emitting crackled

bass, happened to me on 4 sets of i-buds. Then I gave up on those things.
