Headphones for vocal trance (<$150)

Thread Starter

Prefer closed headphones (sound isolation)

Will be using laptop and ipod

Do not want to rely on an amp

I listen to vocal trance so female vocals are quite important as are a decent bass.

Shure SRH840 & Fischer Audio FA-003.

Forget the M50 junk. Harsh highs, recessed mids, little sound stage, and a whole lot of unwarranted hype.

Very best,

 Ultrasones.

I listen to trance in general, not just the vocal kind, and I went with the XB700. I'm not sure Ultrasones have enough bass for me.

You've listened to all the Ultrasone line? Wow.

Did you mean SRH940? I see that you own the 940s.

Nope, he means the 840's. Hes probably auditioned them or giving impressions on the 940's and he expects the 840's to be similar.

Not bad but not the best.

SRH840 is effectively better with vocal, but less punchy bass than HFi580.

SRH840 is an excellent all rounder headphone for the price, but if you want big punchy bass buy HFi580, mids aren't bad at all, but not as good.
