Looking for some awesome headphones

Hey, I have next to no idea what I'm doing when buying headphones and I need some help.

What I'm looking for is something for both music and games. Maybe one moment I'm sitting there playing Final Fantasy XIV, then I get bored and switch and listen to ELO. Or maybe hook it up to my guitar, maybe. Also, I don't really have many USB ports so I would love to have it connect via the Audio Jack. And what about budget? Nothing over $150 would be sweet.

Oh, and I'm told "Around Ear" and "Open Design," something like that, are what I want. Around Ear seems nice. Anyway...

Anyone know something good for me?

Thanks

What kind of music do you listen to? What will you be using your headphones MAINLY for?

If it doesn't need to be portable there is a HELL of a deal on some older MB Quart headphones - The QP220 (for $50!) which are open and shouldn't be unruly to drive with onboard sound.  I promise they are worth much, much more than that.

MB is a bit overlooked around here.  The rest of their stuff is high impedance and kinda low sensitivity (in other words, they take a lot of power to drive properly).

I listen to older, Classic rock some Alternative rock. You know, The Rolling Stones, ELO, The Who, so on so forth. But I'll probably be using them mostly for playing games, just any game.

AD700, fairly easy to drive, the no#1 go to headphone for a lot of gamers, great

sound stage for such a cheap headphone. Light and comfortable for hours on end.

Catch?> They're bass light.

You cannot have it all at that price.

I find classic rock, actually most genres of rock work really well with a forward sounding headphone

that puts you in the first few rows, problem with that is when you're playing games ~ you'll find

such a headphone has no spatial sound stage for locating enemies and what not.

Big sound stage headphones will tend to sound a little distant for most rock, but again

you have to choose ~ otherwise you need two headphones for your needs smily_headphones1.gif

Alright, I decided to get the Technica ATH-AD700. My friend has the Sennheiser HD-558 and he does like them. But since he has the HD-558 I'll get the AD700 just for comparison.

If I don't like 'em, I'll just return them and find myself back here.

Thanks everyone!
