FS DarkVoice 337SE Special Edition
I am selling my Darkvoice 337SE. I bought it new directly from Darkvoice in 2009. I paid $1070 for it. The SE edition added about $300 to the 337 cost, it was an expensive upgrade. It is a great amp, I didn't think I would ever sell it. But... I've got projects related to a new house purchase and trying to come up with funds for them. So the lower priority Luxury items are being liquidated a little at a time. Some of my Audio gear is going on the block.
The 337SE was a cosmetic and Electrical upgrade over the 337. Comes with the Gold panels, upgraded Caps and resisters. Different input tubes.
This model is the one with the Pre-amp outs that you can see on the back panel.
This 337SE is perfect. There are no scratches or chips and it is in the original shipping box it came from China in. I have the cage if you want it. The cage does not fit with most of the tubes that you would use. My recommendation is to allow me to throw it away and not ship it to you. Most 337's were scratched in shipment from those useless cages.
I made a change to mine. It came with some cheesy mis-matched gold finish, hollow plastic knobs, that IMO looked Hideous. I found some Solid perfectly matched Aluminum knobs and you can see both in these pictures I link to below. They look like they came on it.
The sound is bold and powerful. It has a hint of tube warmth, a lot of powerful bass, that reaches deep, but is clear and crisp where it needs to be and not soft in the mids where you might expect a tube amp to be. This amp in the 337 configuration is one of Skylabs top Headamps, and I suspect he would like this one even better. I don't know the link offhand, but if you are interested in this amp, you should find that amprating thread. The DV 337 used to come in around the top 5 somewhere. This is definitely world class headamp territory.
One of the differences in this amp is that it takes an EF80 as the input tube. I believe the 337 uses the 6sn7.
There is no hum in this amp or distortions. The sound is spectaculer. If you want one of these, this is the one you want. The 2 tone color combo is stunning in person, and you will like it better than the dead black 337s. I did not think I would at first, but it really looks nice and well done.
I am including 3 sets of NOS matched tubes with it.
The input tubes are NOS in Box Amperex Bugle boys. They test better than new.
I am including 2 sets of output tubes.
First set is a pair of matched Tung-Sol 5998's. Very hard hitting and crisp tubes. My favorites -- Most of the time.
Second pair is a matched set of NOS in box, RCA 6AS7Gs These tubes warm up and smooth the mids from the 5998s, but give up a hair in the bass.
The tube that is used for the cage tomount are the 6080s. These are short little guys that I didn't particularly care for. If you want a set of those, I'll toss them in for educational purposes. I'll match them as well.
All tubes were tested and matched with my Triplet 3444 tube Analyzer, arguebly the best in the business(Vintage testers) and better in most people's opinion than the Hickok 539C. They were tested for GAS, Shorts and Transductance
The amp has about 300 hours on it and has never given any problems other than I would recomend an Air Conditioned room for it, ifyou know what I mean!
Price: $650 + $45 shipping CONUS (PayPal Gift)
I have an archived Feedback thread here, so you can read it and buy with confidence.
Here's a thread to some PIX, they are pretty good size.
