Audio quality of current iPod Classics?

Thread Starter

How is the audio quality of the current iPod Classic models compared with the 5.5 generation ones? I have a 5.5th gen. one and I run lossless on it but it would be nice to have more storage.

If I get one of the new current iPod Classics, will I notice any difference?

I use line out with the Meier Corda Headsix amp.

Vinnie from redwine audio said the ipod classic (6th gen) isnt quite as good as ipod 5g+imod or ipod 5.5g+imod, but with that entire rig, the ipod classic comes pretty close being just stock. Thus, using ipod classic+LOD+your amp, coupled with good source files and headphones, obviously, you should have some very good sound quality.

Beware, stock headphone jack has some roll off in the bass department. I know because I have the classic 7th gen.

Ipod touch has the best audio quality of all the current gen i-devices. And iphone. If you dont have a smartphone and dont need 160 gigs, go with the ipod touch instead.

The newest Shuffle sounds excellent also, although it doesn't have the capacity to be an only DAP for anyone.
