Koss Pro DJ100 vs Creative Aurvana Live: Budget-fi Throwdown - Page 4

So my audio technica es7's died on me. I was having some issues with sound cutting out in the right can and I thought it was just a bad wire connection, but I resoldered both wires on the right can and nothing. Tried again and I must have fried something because instead of the cutting out sound I got nothing. It was good 2 years, I guess. Good thing I have the portapros around still.

Anyway, the point of this is, which of these would be better for someone who liked the es7? I'm looking for a budget headphone to replace the es7's.

I haven't switched players or pads yet, but the DJ100 sounds real nice, especially Tone Poems by David Grisman in flac. What a wonderful recording! It even sounds great through my crappy 15$ IEMs. Now, if I could locate a recording of Jazz at the Pawnshop in flac (12/48), I'd be really stoked - it's one of the best live jazz recordings ever, just a perfect storm of great musicianship and recording techniques...

Great review, in another thread i had narrowed my choice of under £65 headphones down to these 2. someone posted me a link to here which has been a great help. And I have now decided on the DJ100 / TSBE.

The link to my thread is: http://www.head-fi.org/t/633277/help-advice-needed-for-headphones-less-than-65

but dont expect any techie reviews just a range of alternative sugestions and thoughts for headphones under £65.

As a final note I listen to a lot of Pink Floyd, Vangelis, but also a range of music from Janis Joplin to Abba. I shall mainly use my home HiFi, but will ocaisionly use an mp3 player such as the Sony Walkman or the Sanza Fuse along with an amp such as the Fiio E11 or  DigiZoid Z02.3 . If you have any thoughts on amps and mp3 players to combo with the DJ100's please let me know, keeping in mind my budget is low. £80 max for either item.

I am also assuming here that the DJ100 is the same sound signature as the TSBE. let me know if i am wrong on that point.

Thanks again.

Robert
