Liquid Fire vs Eddy Current Balancing Act?

Am considering a desktop office amp for my upcoming LCD-3. Source will probably be the Antelope Zodiac Gold. The only problem left is amp - which of the Cavalli Liquid Fire or the Eddy Current Balancing Act do you guys think will do more justice to the LCD-3? Many thanks for your thoughts in advance.

i'm also considering them, wa5(both wa5 and wa5le) too.  i'm leaning towards liquid fire because this is newer(I KNOW it's not a reason at all.  curiosity thoughredface.gif).  couple guys saying they like it with t1, which is my favorite headphones.  LF is a hybrid amp, so easier/cheaper among those to operate.  6692 comparing to 300b plus some more.  i  don't know, i'm still thinking.

For a much cheaper price you may consider the Super 7 also from Eddie current.com

Purrin and Anaxillus has just given their extensive impression.  They found that the amplifier

works great with the HD800 and LCD2.  The introductory price is less than 1500$ around

1/3 of the Balancing Act price with almost equal performance

Thanks for the heads up, kiertiji. Am I correct in saying that I only need the Balancing Act only if I need to drive super hungry headphones like the HE6, and that for easier headphones such as LCD2/3, the Super 7 and Balancing Act will be equal in performance? Many thanks.

Silly Sally here owns a maxxed out WA5LE w/expensive tubes and has put it back in it's crates and only uses the Liquid Fire now.  It is a state of the art modern amp.  I did have T-1's and they did sound great with the LF.  I bought LCD2 rev2's and they were so good I sold the T-1's.  I know the LC-3's are in my future for sure.  SS already ordered his LC-3 so we should get reports back soon enough!

You are right about the LF being cheaper to operate.  Check out the price of good 300B's.  I considered the 5LE at one point and that was my stopping point because of tube price.  I ended up buying a WA22 which I sold because the LF outperformed it in every way!

i asked SillySally at the LF thread and he answered me back(thanks SS).  i think i'm going to send cavalli audio if they make 220v version.

Cavalli does make a 220v version - the transformer has dual primaries so it is simply wiring it for the correct voltage. You would of course have to specify this when ordered but it will not add to the cost..dB

How do I contact Dr. Cavalli? Does he have email? I tried to contact through the site but to no avail.

He is a member here as well.  Send a PM to 'runeight'.
