Hello peeps!

I am going to buy a headphones for myself very soon and I am stuck between the decision of these cans.

Firstly, 2 things I have to say. 1)No Bose flaming here 2) No ATH M50 because my friend has it.(I want something out of these better than his heh heh heh)

I will not be using amp and no open cans and don't suggest other random cans LOL. I have narrowed the search.

I am a "treble head" I dislike bass(I already have ATH CKS77) as they block out vocals and violins.(Violin player here)

I want a headphone with the most pronounce mids and treble. Drums and timpani also matters because I play in an orchestra(Bose ae2 hint?)

Now the real problem lies between srh 840 vs 440. How different are they? price comparisons with the 440 is quite big and hence I want to buy correctly. How different are they in terms of mids and treble? I hear forums saying that wtihout an amp they wouldn't be very different.

as for the Bose and ath anc7b. Both are great cans, i think Bose suits me for an orchestra due to sound staging.(I don't know about the rest) The acoustics are good

How does the mids of the ath anc7b compare to the rest.?

i will buy everything here except Bose on amazon so you can make a price comparison. The cheaper the better, but TRY not to compromise sound quality. I dont mind paying extra for better sound

If sound on the srh 840 wins hands down over the 440 by a huge margin. How does it compare to the ATH ANC7B and bose

Here's a poll to allow people and answer if they dont have time to write a reply

Thanks to people who really help me!

Ranking on what I wish to have

(1 being the most desperate)

1)Bose AE2

2)ATH ANC7B

3)SRH 840

4)440

How could you dislike bass? Violins, cellos and timpanis needed adequate but not overwhelming bass. I would probably put the SRH840 on top since it's a neutral can. Honestly though, for a bigger soundstage and a more natural sound open cans are much better.

Do you think you can throw the SRH940 into the mix as well?

And if you're a treblehead, I would recommend the Grado SR225i wholeheartedly, or the Ultrasone HFI-780.

Haha. Proton vs Bugatti . Ok maybe some bass. As for the 940 it is seriously out of the budget. Stick between these few. I want close because I will be traveling around in these. Some ba but I focus a lot of treble and mids. how about the ATH anc7b and the 440 .how do they compare?
