There are already a number of threads here on head-fi on this topic. I'd also add that orthos & some Astronautalis tracks pair very well.

For what it's worth, the D2000s are great for rap and hip-hop and I listen to plenty of it.
The 'problem' I find with the majority of similar music genres; Hip-hop, Dubstep, Techno is that the output has a shorter cut off point which means more bass in those big-bass systems the majority of people have that listen to this music. The D2000s are a great example, they'll give you that big bass even when it isn't in the recording, and I agree are ideal for this type of music.
