tl;dr at bottom. What does that even mean? :P
Are any of you familiar with the Bijou amp and the xb1000? I did a search on the headphones here and it doesn't look like anyone has talked about them for a while. Their price has come down to around $200 or so on quite a few different sites. I currently own the xb700 headphones and like them. I don't care about the "to big" complaint other people have. The bigger the better!
The Bijou amp I have is almost done. Everything is put together and I've tested all but 2 of the tubes but there's no reason those won't work. After that I just have to make the box for it over winter break.
How do you think the Bijou amp would sound with a pair of xb1000's? Would I lose a lot of bass? I've found the 700's to be capable of bass but do not have much unless you adjust equalizer settings or I guess some kind of bass boost. I'm just using the Linux OS and the "alsamixer -D equal" command to use a surprisingly good real time equalizer. It's just that I tend to listen to a lot of dubstep or trance music when studying as it serves a sort of droning mindless MUST ABSORB INFORMATION while at the library for me and most certainly find that these songs require a hefty amount of bass to hear half the song. Lastly, would increasing bass on an equalizer on a computer be canceled out by the workings of the the headphone amplifier? I would imagine it would not influence it.
Soo.. tl;dr, have any of you guys heard the xb1000 lately? Is it worth 200 bucks? Would it sound good being powered by the Bijou headphone amplifier?
