I'm been scourering the net and this forum for days and thought best to post my question....
Some background...I owned a set of MS1s from 2007 to 2010 and loved them....got nackered as cable and other things went amiss....so made decision to go with detachable cord and got some HD650s6mths ago....great cans just not as in your face as I like.
I listen to all sorts from Van Halen & Avantasia to John Denver..honest ! I have an Aune with OPA627 in the head section and a Cambridge Audio 740C and 740A. Its mostly rock that I listen to and I guess I need to move on from the HD650s back to my rock roots...hence..-
This is my request for advice and my current thinking :-
1/ Get some new MS-1i and replace/upgrade the Aune and get a tube amp...maybe have some money left for modding....
2/ Get some MS-2s or SR225i or maybe SR325i and keep the Aune.
The 740C is a great CD with 2 digital inputs to also act as a DAC but the Aune blows the 740A headphone amp out the water....the 740c into the Aune as an Amp only works well hence my thought of the MS-1is and a better DAC and maybe tube amp like a Little Dot III etc.
Any advice would be most welcome.
ps..opps...mostly listen to FLAC via PC optical rather than CDs nowadays....much easier than having a 100 CDs on the floor after a few hrs listening.....
