Peachtree DAC IT *New* ESS Sabre 9022 DAC

Anyone managed to get their hands yet on this new entry level DAC from Peachtree?

Peachtree DAC*IT RRP $449AUD

I've only read one review and it suggests that it is quite detailed in the same vein as

other Sabre32 DAC's like the Eastern Electric Mini Max but the output stage in this

compensates with a smidge of musicality. There you go.

USB limited to 24/96 playback

Coax capable to 24/192

Impressive at this price point.

Apologies everyone for not including it in the original post

This guy in Australia gets his hand on fairly new gear on a regular basis

This looks really interesting.  It's the cheapest DAC to ever make Computer Audiophile's C.A.S.H list, and Chris admits to having trouble telling the difference between it and more expensive gear in a blind test.

Any impressions out there?  I've been looking for a sub-$500 DAC for another system and this might fit the bill.

Thanks for the link. The DAC IT seems like a great buy for the money and all reviews have given it quite high praise. I'm also surprised that there have not been much discussions on the DAC IT in this thread.

Given the price and perceived value it represents, I don't think you will be disappointed going for it. Do post your impressions if you do get one and keep this thread rolling.

Well, the DAC*It is not listed in their webstore. I'll try emailing them to get a price quote... wink.gif

I had the chance to bring a DAC IT home for a very short listen a few months ago, and thought it made a nice improvement in my system. I did not do any blind testing, however I hooked my Imoded IPOD through the LOD out into input number one on my Woo Audio WA5LE. Hooked my Oppo 93 into input 2 and the digital out of my Oppo 83 into the DAC IT and then into input 3 of the Woo. I have a few CD's  that I have two copy's of so I placed them into the Oppo's and cued up the same album on my IPOD. (Every thing on my IPOD is in WAV format)  I made sure all three were synced and listened to each one while switching inputs on the Woo. In the past I have done the same thing with the Oppo's and the IPOD and have found the IPOD to sound thin, a bit lifeless, and hard to listen to for extended periods of time. The Oppos were close to one another, but I liked the pace of the 93 slightly better then the 83.

With the DAC IT in the system the 83 was the clear winner. The sound as a whole had more authority, drums hit harder, bass was deeper, vocals more extended, but did not sound shrill. The sound stage became slightly taller, deeper and wider, but the instruments and vocals within this envelope were more defined. I know it has been said a million times before, but it really was like someone had cleaned a window with Windex. The haze that I did not know was there, was gone.

I was so impressed with the DAC IT that I placed and order for the Grand Pre without hearing it.

Hey I m kinda resurrecting an old thread, but I have one of these as an upgrade from my Xonar ST and The peachtree is definitely a class above the Xonar IMO.

I really enjoy listening to music on this dac, even poor quality is listenable and enjoyable, which is what its all about really, were not all good all the time I have a large collection of mp3’s and Flac files and I can finally listen to my mp3 files with a smile on my face!

The great thing is its remote functionality, it was a real must for me!

In conclusion, this DAC is real mature sounding piece of kit, Ive heard the sabre chips are “harsh” etc… no not this one, it really takes the edge off poor recordings. well worth the money, I would recommend to anyone who is serious about their HiFi.

I love this Dac.  I have had it for about 2 months now and use it with my D2000's.  320 mp3, wav for electronic via Beatport.com Flac from CD's and also hdtracks.com  Foobar w/wasapi and asio4all.  I do like the pace and musicality of this Dac. Only problem is that i hear a lot of exaggeration in s sounding words. Even on very high quality recordings. More so when ran usb than when i run coax but i'm beginning to think that it is probably my headphones and not the dac
