According to Rolling Stone, the four original members of Black Sabbath will be holding a press conference at Los Angeles' famed Whiskey a Go-Go club on November 11th at 11:11 AM (hence the 11.11.11 posted on their official website). It is widely expected that the group will announce a reunion, but a press release merely says it will be a "special announcement at the same location where the influential band made their Los Angeles debut on November 11, 41 years ago." Henry Rollins will be hosting the event.

Black Sabbath

My birthday

This Friday will be a good day. I'll admit I haven't listened to much Black Sabbath, but perhaps now is a good time to start.

For me Black Sabbath has been everything. I guess really not that hard to explain. There was a time in music when they were the only ones who sounded that way. There was really no bad songs on the original albums. Remember I'm talking about the state of rock in 1975-1980. A lot has happened but I still never get sick of playing their stuff. Lets hope they tour!

It seems that we will know soon! It's a party for the press!

I mean this is cool, and I'll definitely try and see them if they do tour, but I dunno Ozzy's been such an ass about Sabbath for the past few years, suing Toni over the rights to the trademark on Black Sabbath.  Come on, you quit, Toni trudged on for years maintaining Sabbath with good albums until the mid 90's, he did the work, the band is his.  (Does anyone know how this turned out?  A quick google search didn't come up with anything...)

Honestly, I'd rather see a reunion with Tony Martin, I'd love to see Eternal Idol and Headless Cross songs live.

Still bummed I didn't get to see Sabbath with Dio when they toured...

Oh dear, hopefully it's not a bunch of over the hill guys embarrassing themselves. Also i get the feeling Sharon is somewhere hoping to milk a ton of cash out of this.

Well this is really an amazing year. I think most would agree that there have been close to 100 really great metal albums put out all over the world. This is kinda the future when metal has become this international music of the nations. I guess it has kind of worked out like the way dance music has. Now metal is being made in alarming rates all over the world and epic albums are coming out one every other day it seems. I would have never thought metal would be as big and popular as it is now. It is almost at the point where you can't listen or buy every release as there is just too many and they are all really fantastic. At this point I see many talented metal bands far passing these old bands just in terms of youth and ability. The margin of quality as a standard quota has never been raised so high and by so many before in the history of metal.

The old bands( Like Sabbath ) who try to keep up just can't. When it was stated that metal would never die, they were right, so far anyway!

I have never seen Black Sabbath live. I saw Ozzy play Sabbath covers live but never seen them all together. I don't keep up with the politics of it all. I would guess they think who ever can pay the most in court would win after multiple suites. The great thing is that it seems there was a magic with all of them together. If they make a CD of new songs it will sell just because it is made by them.

I think that Ozzy is just plain better at singing than Dio was. Don't get me wrong, I have tried to get into the newer Sabbath with Dio but I have never been able to truly get into it. The last CD with Dio is pretty good sounding but If you could listen to it and think about Ozzy singing those songs..........................amazing to think about.

Yes, I was thinking of doing a review of 2011s best metal releases but it is starting to get a little daunting in a way. I could do maybe 90% but it may not be right missing out on adding the last 10%. It is now becoming a real chore just to listen and find every release. I'm not saying that everyone could find and hear every release, no one can now. Years ago there were way less releases. Even in 2005 there were way less albums being released. Even in 2005 we didn't have the talent we seem to have now.

Metal may not be big in the mainstream but worldwide it's one of the largest genres. I am proud to call myself a metalhead.

I remember when I bought their first LP back in the day.

That was some magic metal, nothing like it before they came along.

Yip the original Sabbath was the best. There was just something about Ozzy's high pitched vocals with Toni's menacing riffs that sends a shiver down ya spine! Dio was great too, but for me he is more a rock n roll singer.

I used to love playing Symptom of the Universe... one of the greatest Metal riffs ever - if not the greatest.
