HD25-ii Recable Questions

So recently I decided my right angle plug was way too annoying to use with my iPod Touch + E11 LoD'd since I put it in my jeans pocket, so I want to recable it :).

I'm thinking of using Redco as they have the cheapest shipping (being ~$5 for USPS). The only thing is I don't know what I exactly need. I'm wanting to use a female 3.5mm for the cups so I can just hook any 3.5mm cable (convenience) to it, in which I found this: http://www.redco.com/shopdisplayproducts.asp?search=yes&bc=no&CatalogId=966

Would the hole be too large though for the HD25's stock cable? I'm planning to do it like this guy:

http://www.headphiles.org/index.php/topic,2436.0.html

except with the plug below the square thing holding the cable as I don't want the screws to be so exposed, plus it looks sort of funny.

Also, what cable would be recommended? And connectors. Planning to use the Mogami W2893 if that's fine, and a Neutrik NYS240 (240 or 240L?) (there's no BG one on Redco. Is there much of a difference between the two, with it being gold plated?).

My other idea was building a 3.5mm male to male cable w/ a 3.5mm stereocoupler on top (needed a cable shorter than 10cm) or a 3.5mm male to 3.5mm female cable (would have to find a connector somewhere though + would need to buy the cable), but I figured this was more convenient +, if I bought the stuff for only like, adapters, that'd be spending most of the money on shipping alone.

Yep. That all looks like it would work - The stock HD25 cable may be a little thin but you could thicken it up by putting glue lined shrink tubing which will also give it a bit of strain relief. Also if put some shrink tubing round the socket it's self then it would cut down the noise it will make when it hits the earcup.

Alright thanks. Is the glue shrink tubing the thing that's on the stock HD25 cable around the area where the cord is held?

I think that is just standard shrink tubing.. I have cut one off before and it did not seem to be glued . The reason I suggested glue lined stuff is because it is a bit thicker than the standard stuff
