DAC/AMP Combo for 1k?

I've been thinking of selling my portable rig to fund a home/computer rig. I could get around 1k (give or take) if I sell them. So my question is which DAC/AMP Combo would you recommend to replace my portable rig and will it be an improvement in SQ?

Edit: I also plan on getting the LCD-2/3 by christmas so I'd be nice if had "synergy" with the combo

Maybe used Burson HA-160D or new HA-160DS?

I was looking into those, but i'm looking for something balanced as I like the balanced sound.
