I am looking for an I-pod replacement for Audiobooks

Thread Starter

I kind of lost touch with the new technology. My older I-pod's hard drive died and I do not intend to fix it.

Please help me chose a device for Audiobooks only. I found older posts about older hardware, but I see a lot of new, cheap, 4-8 GB players around in CVS, Radio Shack, etc. and I have no idea how they would do for my needs.

I am looking for a non Apple device, something that can:

1) bookmark files

2) have a non touch screen interface

3) sleep time

4) under $70-$80

5) reliable

6) decent battery life

7) download protected books from the library (Overdrive)

I have a lot of m4b and m4a files, but I don't think non apple players read them so I guess I have to convert them somehow.

Seen some new Sony devices, Phillips, Polaroid, I wonder how they measure up. Can something be had for this money that is worth having?
