Thanks for the beyer recommendation. I had
myself convinced to go either with the beyer DT-880 600ohm and a bottlehead crack amp or go with the AT adh900 without an amp. How would my two options compare ?
The bottlehead amp has good reviews but apparently is only suited to high impedance cans so if I don't lke the beyers I will have limited choices for cans
The ATH-AD900 is a great sounding "open" headphone (40-Ohm). It is known to work great with unamped source(s).
But is not known for great improvement with headphone amplifiers.
The ATH-AD900 will have fair quality bass, the Beyerdynamic will have more bass (fuller) then the AD900s.
Beyerdynamic headphones in the 250-Ohm to 600-Ohm range need to use a headphone amplifier.
With Beyerdynamic, the Pro versions have a little tighter clamping on the ears verses the Premiums
The Premiums are usually a little more comfortable then the Pro version.
Premiums versions cost more then Pro versions.
I'm an Audio Technica fan, but would rather get a Beyer (250-Ohm version) and spend the extra loot on a nice amp.
