As title.

I'm based in the UK and have just received a pair of almost new, ex-dem HFI-2200s from a US seller on eBay. After about 3 minutes of listening, the RH drive unit started going quiet, almost as if someone was adjusting the volume in that ear, until it was totally silent. If I pressed the enclosure, it would start working again. As soon as I removed pressure, it died. I took the RH enclosure apart, expecting to find a dodgy solder joint, but there wasn't one. If I apply gentle pressure to the PCB to which the wires are soldered, the driver works. I tried re-flowing the joint, and it has slightly improved it (although the improvement could be as much to do with the enclosure being disassembled/reassembled).

I'm not sure what is causing this, and I can get it to behave like it did originally (almost like the volume is being gradually reduced to that ear) by pressing the enclosure onto my ear and gently releasing it. One possible reason I can think of is that the wires to the voice coil have come loose from the PCB on the other side(?). Other than that, and trying to disassemble the driver, I'm at a loss.

I don't want to send the headphones back, as I picked them up for $90, with shipping and import charges on top, coming to almost the same again.

The worst scenario is that I'm stuck with a knackered pair of headphones. The best is if I can disassemble the capsule and find a rectifyable fault there. Somewhere in the middle is getting a replacement capsule from Ultrasone, but not sure how to go about this/how easy it is to contact them? Has anyone had to buy replacement capsules from them before? How much are they likely to charge?
