No standard on left right in old headphones?

Thread Starter

Hi, I'm a new guy here so go easy, I did do a search before I posted, but couldn't find something to answer my thought.

I have several older models that I enjoy listening to. but this evening I noticed something

Some of them have left and right swapped. I couldn't find a consistency as to why either...

For example - I have a Zenith Quadular set that is backwards and a soundesign model that is backwards as well, but a musicland model that plays correctly, I wouldn't have an issue with it normally but I don't like having the cord on my right side.

Who were they trying to fool? This is an obvious mistake.

any other thoughts on this? can I get some sort of crossfader to fix it?

Thanks

Perhaps the headphones were modded, and wired so the L and R is wrong.
