Can somebody clear something up for me?

So my Shure SRH940s have an impedance of 42 ohms, whereas my beyerdynamic DT1350s have an impedence of 80 ohms. Now I have a Fiio e5 portable amp (obviously not a premium amplifier by any stretch) but it appears my DT1350s with almost twice the impedence (of the 940s of course) respond much better to the minimal amplification from the e5 than the larger easier to drive 940s. Thoughts?

Is it due to the efficient "Tesla Drivers" in the 1350s?
