Beyerdynamic DT880 (2006) Left Channel dead

Hi all,

My Beyerdynamic DT880 has died on the left channel.

I am not sure what it is yet but I am thinking the driver might have died.

Would you guys consider it worth it to find replacement parts or just buy a new headphone?

Thanks

I would open them and check the solder joints first.

yea how handy are you with a multimeter?  check continuity between the TRS [remember, red is right is ring] and the driver - i don have any experience to say how often drivers fail but i know i've fixed dozens of broken or shorted wires, mainly right at the plug... as that's the area that has the most stress put on it...

Well I do have a multimeter so I best get using it.

I really hope it is just a faulty wire. That would be great.

Thanks for the advice all.

I'm pretty sure it's just a faulty wire.

Now you have an excuse to do a complete rewire on your DT 880's. :D
