Hello.

So i'm planning to perform a not to expensive headphone upgrade. i'm using a creative aurvana live atm connected to m-audiophile 2496.

i've been reading various headphones threads on what.cd and this is a few cans within my price range that i'm considering buying:
ATH-AD900, ATH-M50, Denon AHD2000, Beyerdynamic T50.

so my question is which one of these would you choose over the other and why?
since i'm very inexperienced i'm always open for advice from everybody!

//Thanks

The AH-D2000 hands down.  I have extensive experience with it and the more I listen to other headphones the more I appreciate the D2000.  It is easy to drive, very comfortable, well built, and sounds even better with better gear.  It is also on Headroom's Top 10 list and I know one of their employees owns two pairs one for work and one for home.

The M50 is a great entry-level headphone, but in the end becomes lifeless.  It is more of a studio headphone than a hi-fi sounding headphone.  The AH-D2000 is an excellent can and one of my personal favorites.

what about ath? how is the ad900 and m50 compared to beyerdynamic?

The ATH-AD900s are open headphones, which would have the least amount of bass compared to the others you list, which are all closed headphones.

The ATH-A900s are closed headphones.

how about the denon ahd5000? is it a big sound difference between the 5000 and 2000? atm 5000 is beyond my price range but i might wait and spend a bit more on the 5000 instead..

The Denons(2000 & 5000) are both excellent cans. However regardless of what HeadRoom or anyone tells you they are not the equal of a good open back headphone for transparent upper frequency response. For the music you listen to you may love them,just don't expect them to sound as open sounding as non closed back cans.

You might find more information in the full-size headphones forum.
