Well, first off...Howdy. This place is gold for noobs like me!! So thanks ahead of time to anyone that takes a moment to help me out!

 

So this revolves around my first 'audiophile' purchase. Im not lookin to spend thousands, Im not looking for comparable products I just need your ADVICE on this comparison:

 

Sennheiser HD 518 129.99$

Sennheiser HD 558 144.99$

 

Is it a no brainer to just spend the 10 bucks and grab the 558's? I kinda feel like Im missing some secret, but from the research Ive done these fall into my price range, and they both seem to have similar performance reviews.

 

 My main question is what EXACTLY is it that separates these two tiers of headphones? I have heard from past that the 555's blew the 515's outta the water...but now the 518's have gained a significant improvements closing the gap between the two models. Is it the same "parts" drivers in both of these? What makes the 558 the tier above the 518?

I would say go, but we need your preferences (music, comfort, etc.) That's a really good price :)
