Hello all. I tried to choose different headphones from different brands, to give best results. Most of these headphones are on amazon for between 130 and 200 dollars. I didn't say best sounding by the way, because I want to know what you guys think are the best all around. I am not doing this because I am deciding on what headphones to purchase, because I already have some ATH M50 headphones coming in the mail. =D Thank you for participating, and i greatly appreciate your answers.

I haven't heard all of those, but really like the MDR-7509HD. It's my travel headphone.

Though for best quality around $200, I'd go with a used Sennheiser HD-600. It is awfully, awfully good for the price. I'd take one (properly amped) over the majority of four-figure headphones. I really is that good.

Thank you for your suggestion. It sounds like a good idea.

I really like the HD25-1's at that price point, but isolation is key for me.  I'm routinely up late, and not disturbing others in my house is important.  The portability of them is also very nice.

Just bought the DT770's and so far am LOVING them.

Before that I had the AKG K81DJ's and loved those as well.

Clearly a basshead trail...and won't be stopping anytime soon. :P

I'd go for the Grado SR225i.  A lot of people feel these are the best value between all the different Grado models.

If you have the M50's coming, what you need to do is to see what you like and don't like about them, then post that info.  Then the community here can give you a direction to go in if you want something other than the M50's.

I kinda liked them, but they didn't stick with me because I thought they have a smidge too much bass, and the ear pads made the sides of my head sweat.  Clamping force was a little high for me too, although I think that's fixable.

Out of the others you have listed, I didn't think the Shure 840's had enough low end, and I thought the HD555's sounded anemic in general.  Hard to explain.

There is also the AKG K240 Mk II (or the Studio; they sound very close to each other).  I like this one better than all of the K501/K601/K701/702/Q701.

^^^^ If you like bass, then the M50's could actually be the ones for you.  smile_phones.gif  To be honest, I liked them more than I thought I would.

Though the OP didn't list them specifically, they are a great listen

Very present, exciting, immediate - all the qualities referred to continually when they're described.

But

then I saw you mostly listen to rap - so I recommend the ATH-M50's.

Excellent all around phones with plenty of bottom.

Comfortable to wear and nicely made.

Good value even at the current going price of about 150.

Hugely popular - for good reason - and thus easy to sell if/when you're ready to move on.
