HD-598 or AKG K601 for movies/gaming

Hello everyone,

Right now I have Senn HD-598's. I like them very much but I've heard the k601's have a bigger soundstage and are much clearer. That they do everything the 598's do but are much better in certain aspects. There's a deal goin on around here that has the AKG K601s at 2/3 of the price of the 598s and I could get a fiio e7 (which would make the price about the same as the 598's). I'm thinking of returning the Sennheisers and getting that deal. Would it be worth it? And is the e7 enough to power K601's?

I'll probably get an e9 if the e7 isn't enough. What I'm wondering though is would the e7 be necessary if I'm getting the e9?  Seems I could just use my sound card as a dac. I never saw the point in that combo.

Oh okay...In that case, I think I'll wait for a new Sennheiser line to warrant an upgrade or something. Btw, why do people buy the e7/e9 combo? I understand if you plan to use the e7 constantly if you're on the go but otherwise I don't get it. if you get an e9 and you use a sound card as a dac shouldn't that do the same job if you're at home?

Also, how does the k601 and the 598 compare in movies and gaming? Is there a difference big enough to get the k601 instead? cuz that's 50% of what I use my 598's for. They're awesome for that purpose but I don't have anything else to compare them to. 

True...I'll definitely buy the e9 first and get the e7 a while after I get my portable HDJ-2000s though. Right now, I don't need both.
