e7 vs. e11 for MP3 player?

Also, after much reading I'm still confused about the Fiio e7 vs. the e11. I read that if you're using it just for portable use, the e11 is better. However, the e7 is preferable for computers, because many computers' own DACs are weak. I don't understand the logic, does this imply that the DACs in computers are much worse than the DACs in MP3 players, therefore the e7 isn't required for MP3 players? I always assumed the DACs used for computers and mp3 players to be more or less the same.

 

Also, I have a piar of Denon D1001s, and a 2G iPod Touch. Would amping this setup with either of the Fiio products have an impact?

Portable players do usually have better DACs than computer motherboards. The audio of a motherboard is of little concern to manufacturers, because anyone serious about audio will buy their own sound card or external component anyway. But portable players need DACs.

 

More importantly, though, the E7 doesn't bypass a portable player's DAC, but it does bypass a motherboard's DAC. So you can only use the amp when with a portable.

 

I wouldn't bother amping in that situation, if you're not cranking the volume up to near max already.
