Would a budget set up be an improvement over integrated motherboard sound quality?

Thread Starter

I've been thinking about the possibility of using the Fiio D5, HM101, or Behringer UCA202's line out to a Fiio E6 as part of a desktop set up to get a budget USB DAC and amp set up. My logic is that I would be getting the benefits of a budget DAC while also having the same op amp and portability as the Fiio E7, while still having it be cheaper than an E7. How effective or feasible would this setup be for the money?

Edit: Right now I'm not using any high impedance headphones, so I think the E6 is an acceptable choice, but if I were to get one I would probably grab some kind of desktop amp like the E9 or E11 and pair it with the D5, HM101, or UCA202 that I would have purchased earlier. How good of a deal would this work out to be?

Why not hit the Fiio E10 straight away?
