It's an interesting question, when does something move from the province of a specific heritage or culture into mainstream use? When is it ok for people who don't have the connection to use or appropriate?

speaking for those that i know, people dont care if anyone wears a kilt, what does piss peopel off though is when americans come over and declare they are scottish because some relative from 200 years ago was scottish.  hate to break it to them but that does not make them scottish.  never understood why some americans cant just be american without prefixing it with italian, irish etc etc.

re the kilts though if anyone wants to wear them then wear them, they jut arent practical though.

My grandfather emigrated from Scotland. He was ok with kilts, he just wanted to escape those screethy bagpipes.
