iPod + Portable DAC or some alternate portable player w/out DAC

Hi all,

I currently have a 5th Gen iPod Video and will soon be upgrading I think. I need the capacity of HDD players so 32Gb solid state players not an option.

I'm also about to buy some HFI 680s which definitely benefit from amplification so I'm considering portable DAC/amp combos as well.

My main question is this:

Will any other portables (e.g. Cowon X7) drive 70+ ohm headphones better than an iPod? I'm not asking about standard output quality at this stage (I understand the Cowon is better in general). I just want to know if there are high capacity portable players with high power outputs that suit higher impedance cans.

Anyone? Is there a large capacity player with good mid-high impedance output capabilities?

The XM6 can drive the higher impedance headphones with ease and if connected with new iPod Classic then the result willbe much higher than 5G IPods.
