I've installed JRiver 16 and have the Perfectwave DAC playing songs through. When I play a song it will play fine then JRiver will freeze permanently when the song is about 5 seconds from finishing. Also when I play 24bit songs the PWD only plays them as 16bit. I have re-installed JRiver twice. Does anyone know what the problem could be?

This is a review of a pair of free IEM's I recieved from DUNU as part of a give away contest they recently held here on Head-fi. When I recieved my package the first thing I notices was...

Best closed headphones I had heard - very flat response, almost no midrange distortion, very easy to drive (good for portable), good soundstage (definately better than K240), good isolation, but...

Overall excellent buds, very good sound quality, especially for their price, the medium set of tips fits exactly in my ears and provides a near perfect seal. Bass is very detailed, but not...

I'll keep this very short. They are very smooth sounding. Treble toned down so not so good for rock but have a magic about them that makes them better than mark 2. I use them with a '89/'90...

Problems with JRiver and PerfectWave DAC
How are you connecting to the DAC? USB? DLNA?
I don't have a Perfectwave and have never used one. So I'll just wing some basic troubleshooting.
I'm going to assume USB.
Try different audio output modes. WASAPI, WASAPI Event Style, and even ASIO if the Perfectwave has an ASIO driver.
Audio output settings are in Tools >> Options >> Audio
Set Audio Output mode to WASAPI Event Style
Click Output mode settings...
Set Open device for exclusive access
Toggle the setting for "Present 24-bit data in a 32-bit package" on and off and see if it makes a difference
Experiment with buffer settings. Some hardware is fussy about buffer sizes being either too big or too small
Try small buffer sizes under 50 ms. Try larger buffer sizes over 100 ms.

Sorry I should have mentioned it's connected via the bridge. I tried changing the buffer but it still does the same thing. I tried everything else you mentioned but it still only plays 24bit as 16bit and JRiver still freezes. I'll keep playing with the settings. Thanks
When I pause a song it will pause for a few seconds then skip to the next song. Only 2 buttons work on the remote, pause and volume.
I'm hopeing someone else has had the same problems and knows how to fix it.
I'd contact PS Audio support and see if they know what's going on. I'm sure they're familiar with J River Media Center and how to get it working with all the various ways JRMC can talk to the PerfectWave. There's also the J River support forum. They'll know the ins and outs of the software, but few may be familiar with the ins and outs of the PerfectWave.

I'll have to ask in the JRiver forums then. Until then I'll try another player. Thanks for the help.
