Trying to decide on a headphone. How do full sized compare to IEM for isolation?

I was thinking about picking up a slightly used pair of HD380 Pros for $100.  But the more I thought about having full sized headphones the more I questioned buying them.  All my cheap ones are IEM and I'm used to them.  How would a $100 IEM compare to the HD380s?  Which would be better in isolation?  

 

I used the search function for reviews, but I'm not exactly sure how to compare different types of headphones like this.  Any help would be appreciated. 

 

 

For IEM, I was thinking about teh NuForce NE-700x.

I'm not familiar with the 380 Pros, but I tried the 280 Pros one time and they had a fair amount of isolation, due to the substantial clamping force.  You might look into the KRK KNS-8400s, which IMHO are more comfortable.  And the cushions are made of a memory foam-type material, so they're good for up to (according to the package) 30 dB of isolation.  Pretty good.

I think a well isolating IEM at $100 could destroy any full sized headphone in isolation. Etymotics, for example. Here's an example, the sound that's leaked through an HD280 Pro vs an HF5:

Personally, I won't choose anything other than an IEM for on the go listening.

Hmm, the HF5 are a little more than I wanted to spend.  How do they compare to the Ne-700x?  I know the price difference is substantial, but $100 is at the highest point I'm willing to spend.  Would prefer to spend closer to the 700x's price range.

So should I look at something other than the Ne-700x?  I'm kinda set on that price range now.  Still kinda a toss up on headphone vs iem though.
