Wandered into Best Buy and they had a Monster demo area with a set of Turbine Golds and Miles Davis trumpet.  I tried both but definitely liked the Golds better.  I did have a hard time with the look of the trumpets. A week later I wandered back in and they had some of the Miles Davis Tributes there.  I had just seen the prices on Amazon drop to $254 for the MD Tribs and I asked if they would match (their sticker prices was $290).  The manager said yes and when they rang them in it came up $199.  Cool.

So I tried them out for a couple days and they just did not blow me away like the Golds did.  I found the mids and highs kinda recessed.  Now, I'm not a jazz guy so maybe they really are tweaked for that type of music.  Also, obviously, I did not let them burn in but like I said, they just didn't sound good enough for me to keep, even at the great price.  One thing I did like about them was their new 'super tips'.  I found those to be the most comfortable I've tried.  Also, the case candy that came with them was great.  The hard case is pretty sweet and two soft cases as well.  Also, a double CD 50th anniversary of MD Kind Of Blue.

So I just went back on Amazon and they are blowing out the Monster Turbine Golds with the controller for $178.  Funny that the ones with the controller are cheaper.  I guess not as big a seller maybe?  But for that I'll give them a try.  After all, Amazon does have a great return policy.  I find the Gold's a little garish, and prefer the Coppers for looks, but sonically I prefer more bass and I think I'll like the tone of the Golds better.  I'll post here after I get them.
