A Q-Jays Conundrum...

Hi, I'm new here, so thought I should start by introducing myself...

Im Joe, 22 and I'm from Sittingbourne, Kent, UK. I would consider myself as a relatively novice audiophile, but I'm hoping to learn a lot more. I'm certainly a perfectionist when it comes to how my audio sounds, so I guess that's a start!

Im looking into purchasing a new set of earphones, as last night the right driver died on my Q-JAYS, which I bought back in March 2010. Luckily they should still be covered by the 24 month warranty. Jays have agreed to test them for me to determine whether I am liable for replacements.

Unfortunately Jays are now only sending out white replacements, and as you would have it mine were black. It doesn't really bother me too much, but got me thinking on whether it's time to upgrade to something more professional regardless of whether I get Q-JAYS replacements or not.

I was wondering if you could make any suggestions. I really like the look of the Sure SE535's, but was wondering if theirs anything else which may be better before I make my final decision. I generally use my earphones plugged into my laptop or my HTC HD 7 Windows Phone. Although I will most probably be using them with much more high end equipment in the near future. I am a PC audio perfectionist too, and only insist on listening to .wav or .flac files through foobar2000.

I would kindly appreciate your help,

Joe

Hmm. i'm sure a budget and a favourite genre would help us recommend something

Hey Joe  I'm in the same boat...  my Q-Jays are on their last legs and looking to replace them.  A few people have chimed the thread that I started, perhaps it may be some help for you as well: http://www.head-fi.org/t/577894/gettin-up-to-date-for-2012-best-iem-for-under-200

My strongest contenders are the VSonic GR07

Cheers and good luck

X2.

With some feedback about what you didn't like about the sound may help.

I've owned the following high-end IEMs and eventually settled on the SE535: Westone UM3X, EarSonics SM3 v2, Shure SE535.

Thankyou all for the reply :)

I honestly can't complain about the Q-JAYS, I absolutely loved them. I do crave audio perfection though, so that's why I'm swaying towards the Shure SE535's. I don't really have a budget either, as you can't put a price on audio perfection.

IMO the q-JAYS are near the perfect IEM for a musicality and detail combination for the price. I absolutely love them due to their great detailed, ease to drive, comfort and clarity. The only gripes I have with them are the "need" to have Comply T series tips and that they expose bad mastering.
