I finally got them back, and I'd forgotten how good they sound!

Just found a pair of these for £99, brand new. Worth a go? Looking for a long term, daily earphone anyway. Thanks

Depends what music you like, but probably yes.

Literally everything.

Mainly jazz, soul, metal, punk, hip hop, a bit of electronic - the list goes on

Thanks!

For electronic and hip hop these will be great, don't know about the others but from the looks of it you should go for them.

I have 2 of this IEM.

The old one is about 2 years old.  It sounds mellifluously smooth.  The new one is only 2 months old. I can discern the difference in the treble region.  But despite their differences, the Yamahas sound great with instrumental jazz, vocal jazz, rock, alternative rock and even edm/house/trance music.  Their lack of left-right panning or width in musical presentation render them a little soundstage deficient in presenting classical and other chamber music.

Considering its price point and that it only has one single dynamic driver, what the EPH100 is able to pull off is incredible.  That said, you may want to allow a longer burn in time to get to that smooth and grain-free sonic character.

For daily commute, I fear the thin non-removable cables may not be hardy enough for the pulls and tugs inside public transpo.

I've been using mine for daily commute for about 2 years now, no issues. I guess it all comes down to how you treat your gear

Yeah I used mine for a bit before the summer holidays started on a daily commute and they held up fine. They died on me later on though, just got a new pair.

yeah I've used it daily for almost 2 years and it is still working fine. No issues with the build quality

The whole problems with moisture thing got blown way out of proportion.

Thanks for the advice guys, I'm going for them.

Hey guys I just lost my EPHs and I'm looking for a replacement with higher bass quantity. Any recommendations? (I don't like over-ear onlys by the way)

That pretty much rules out the IE8/80 then. Otherwise they would've been great.

The thin cable hasn't been in issue on the subway yet....
