I think the yamahas are of better sound quality overall though, but monoprice are £5 and yamahas are £99 so going to be very picky with them.

Can you return a pair if you dont like them?  Or woukd u just sell them to someone?

Hello all, does anyone know the cheapest source for these headphones for a Canadian? My only option I found so far is Amazon ($50 shipping) or B and H Photo ($36 shipping).

Thanks in advance!

I'm selling my pair (preferably inside Europe), see the For Sale forum.

Has anyone used the these Yamaha EPH-100SL on an airplane? If so, did it block out all of the engine noise and crying babies without having to turn them way up? The Shure 215s have up to 37 db of isolation. What do these EPH-100SL have in terms of db isolation? Can someone please compare these two earphones in terms of isolation.

The eph-100 has pretty good isolation.

Recently I was listening using them in some train station.

I  was on the crowd, and when I  removed I  was quite surprised:

I  was listening to music at a volume level, quieter than the background noise outside .

I  also used the eph-100  as a substitute  of earplugs, when there's too much noise at night and cannot sleep well.

I  think the are eph-100 are good enough for airplane, because  they beat my senn ie7 in isolation, and I used once the senn ie7 in airplane.

EPH100 are really good isolators.

I'll second that, I travel on the train every day to school and I never have any problems with hearing the rumble, or with noise leak for that matter.

I've been having issues of either side (but the right mostly) cutting out constantly while working out. I didn't know what the cause was.. I thought the driver was seizing. I'd knock the back of it rather hard on something a few times and the sound would come back, so I thought that's what it was.

It wasn't until about a week ago I realized it was moisture. Now I take the tip off, wipe the mesh side on my shirt or pants, then blow on it to make sure it's clear, then the sound's back.. but starts to cut out again very soon after. VERY ANNOYING to have to constantly do this while working out.

I'm looking for something to replace these now. I love the sound of them, by far one of my fav in-ears to date, but I have no idea what's comparable to their sound signature.

HTC One X yeah, they sounded good!

@kloan, I think it's not a good idea to use the eph-100 for work out, because you are sweating , and off course this increase moisture. I think you can still enjoy the eph-100 for "regular use", and preferably not when you are sweating, or just after a shower.

I think about buying the Yamaha EPH-100.

Are the "Yamaha EPH-100" and the "Yamaha EPH-100SL" the exect same model?

I have read that the Yamaha EPH-100 are very suitable for trance and vocal trance. Are they also suitable for metal (iron maiden, rammstein, etc...)?

Thanks!

Trance yes. Metal not so sure, they do not sound particularly aggressive  .

They are perfect for trance. wink.gif

Don't really listen to metal so I couldn't say.

Do you know any other iem around the same price range (<180$) that can sound good when playing both trance and metal?

I have already checked the vsonic gr07 BE and I got the opposite impression - may be good with metal but not with trance.

I currently use the brainwavz m2 (which are great!) so both IMO will be an upgrade.
