Yamaha EPH-100 - Page 179

The GR07 cable was the best, but would prefer it on the EPH and not the GR07 over-the-ear design, it's so thick and sometimes falls off the ears. 

 

The only problem with the cable is that sometimes on the EPH it tangles and doesn't sit straight and untwirl itself like the CKM500, nothing major.

Okay now the right earpiece sound is dying again and wont come back after blowing through it :S probably not moisture related any more even if that is an issue. Unplugged for 10 or so minutes and it's come back again...

I was just thinking about this once again. Not sure of and not seen the internal connections to know what the cables are connected by or between the driver itself, but if this cuts out with some use, then cools and starts again, it sounds like a bad join somewhere. Classic case of a bad join as intermittent operation from heat/cold often shows up as a symptom. And its just one side hey. Warranty job I think.

Mine is happening pretty much every night now :S[

 

Will have to send it back overseas for RMA :S

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones that had this problem as it only happened once and since then they've worked and sounded great.  If you registered them with Yamaha you can send the IEM to them and they'll replace it.

Weird. I've put many many hours on these and not a single problem so far, no moisture or sound turning off or anything.

I have to disagree.  We have a number of people on Headfi that have problems with this phone.  There have been posts trying to figure out how common it is.  The more people we add to the sample group, the more accurate our statistics regarding the number of people with problems will be which very much does matter.  Let's say we have 50 people on Headfi talking about these headphones (random number).  If everyone on the forum told us about six other people's experiences, that takes our relatively small group from 50 to 350 and takes our margin of error from 14% to AROUND 5.5 percent with a 95% level of confidence.   Many political polls are a 3-5% margin of error.  14% margin of error is practically unheard of.

Hi,

 

I need some help deciding between the Yamaha EPH.100 and the Meelec A161P.

I listen all kinds of music with the exception of Classical, but primarily classic rock and Prog Rock.

My usual headphones are the Sen HD25-1 II and Alessandro MS-1 (with Flats). SO I´m looking for an IEM that has similar tight, impact full bass.

How would these IEMs compare to the headphones mentioned?

Could anyone compare the 2 IEMs?

IEMs are not comparable to headphones, especially in this price range. Get triple driver, 3 way crossover IEMs (SM3, UM3X, etc) and you can start to compare at least trebles and mids to your HD25-1 II.

I disagree the sound quality of hd25-1 II is not that great. I would prefer the yamaha eph-100.

Perhaps the bass impact of hd25, is better, but the bass of eph-100 is more rich.

And between the hyper congested sound of hd25 , and the super airy sound of eph-100, you might not even hesitate.
