Could be highly possible. Can't say I've tried excessively to make rockbox sound the same, though what experimentation I have done sends me back to stock firmware. it's mostly lacking clarity I detect in rockbox. Then again, one could debate I'm simply not EQing the same frequency Hz in rockbox. Maybe, I have super human hearing and you all can't hear the difference. tongue_smile.gif

Anyway, I was using my EPH-100 earlier today, they continue to impress me these little gems. Paired up with the Clip+ it so simple so, they make an excellent on the go set up. Never regret the purchase, they have a place in my stable.

Huxley

How you compare the JVC HA-FXD80 to the EPH100? which one sound better?

I was thinking order a pair of JVC but no one sell in the U.S, where you order yours?

The jvc without a doubt, after listening you will find the yamahas to have a kind of veil to everything, not in a bad way it's their laid back nature.

But it's like you hear the details, but it's not as airy or open. The jvc's have a timbre to die for they sound so natural.

Can sound sibilant initially, but with a good hard burn in they smooth right out. You pick up little details in songs easier.

The EPH-100's till win for trance/edm but only as they're so much fun, but believe me the 80's aren't far behind.

For fit the yamahas win hands down, they're so light not to mention the isolation is better.

I grabbed mine from ebay bud, best way tbh and try and get gunmetal if you can, it's such a nice colour.

No problem, don't be surprised if you find yourself with headaches at first.

It was my hearing adjusting to a different signature, totally settled in now and loving them.

And play with the tips, seems medium suits me best which is odd as im usually small or large, depending on how deep i insert them.

And don't judge them out of the box, most jvc's require a nice hard burn in to open up.

Big sound from a tiny combination, ease of use. Something to admire.

Hah well might have been just me, didn't hear anyone else having problems.

But it was gone by the time they burned in, now they're plugged in all the time my yamahas haven't got so much as a listen  wink.gif

But hey im sure something better will come along sooner or later, but for now im having fun with these.

Iv had the opposite with the fxd80's while they are good to me and dont do much to offend they dont blow me away like the yams, I think a few have came down on either side of the arguement (maybe everyone should just buy both ;)

Also poor trolling chipstjuven.

Heh well can't argue there seeing as i went ahead and did that.

Though they do impress me, just goes to show how subjective ones hearing can be.

Mind this is on my rocoo player, haven't really played them on my fuze/p4 rig, perhaps because they didn't blow me away?

Like the yammies, perhaps the 80's are source sensitive?

very good point and something i found in my review and comparison with my 3 sources on the yams.  just like them the 80's were best out the cube c30, 2nd out the ipod with e11, and a drop to the clip zip.

also i dont mean that the 80's are in any way bad, i think they are good across the board and worth 80-110 £,  id pay nigh on 200 for the sound of the yams though.  Just sometimes when i maybe make a comment like the ones above some people might think im debunking the 80's down to comparible with budget phones which they are far from, i dont think many would be dissapointed with either.
