I'd like to buy the Swan M10's, but I need a headphone jack.

Space is an issue for me and the size of the M10 satellites would be perfect.  Why doesn't Swan have headphone jacks on their speakers?  What would be the best way for me to use headphones with the M10's?  A splitter and plugging in my headphones directly is not an option, the volume coming from my X-Fi Titanium is too much for my Triple-Fi 10's.  What I would like is a small device that has an audio input, headphone jack out with volume control, and a line out going to the M10's.  Does a device exist, and if it does, would it affect sound quality?

The device you're describing could be an amp, like this:

But you'd need it to be able to select output.

I have a similar situation and use a cheap DJ mixer, which has separate volume controls for headphones and speaker outputs. The mixer's big though.

Well i use a T-Amp and bookshelf speakers and instead of PCI/PCIe sound card my Fiio E7 works well with both this set up and cans tongue_smile.gif I wanted a portable/battery powered DAC (for use during transit/work) but if you dun i would say the E10 looks promising In fact my relative in Australia on an active 2.0 Microlab Solo 6C speakers would be getting the Fiio E10 hehe

Why not get the m10's, and a seperate device for your headphones like the fiio e10.

I'm not sure I follow.  Are you saying to connect the amp and M10 to my sound card using a splitter?  Any loss in sound quality this way?  I have an E5, could I just use those?

Edit:  (took me forever to find this edit button)  I see the e10 has line out, nice, but how do I connect this to my sound card?  All I see is a USB in.

The e10 connects via usb, run the swans out your soundcard, and headphones out the e10 which connects via usb.

So there would be audio coming out of my computers USB port?

Yep, just plug the e10 in turn it on and it's good to go.

Hmm, but then this would render my X-Fi useless.  I still would like EAX and CMSS-3D when playing video games.

Then get a headphone amp with a variable out like this, http://www.amazon.com/Musical-Fidelity-V-CAN-Headphone-Amplifier/dp/B001P6BSM2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1319854139&sr=8-1 or this, http://www.amazon.com/FiiO-Desktop-Headphone-Amplifier-Dock/dp/B004M172FY/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1319854169&sr=1-1.

Thanks, those would work great.  Now I just need to decide if I wanna spend and extra $110 just to use headphones.  At that price, I'm considering going amp + passive.

When you say the sound coming out of your computer is "too much for your TF10", have you tried lowering the volume on both the software and hardware side? E.g. Windows volume, game/music program volume, volume knob?

Also, is there a gain switch for your soundcard?

Windows volume is pretty much my only option, and it's already too loud at 10%.  I could adjust the volume in my music players, and video in game settings, but then general Windows sounds will make me deaf.

Negative on the gain switch.

I think the idea of going amp plus passive speakers is a good one but it will run you more than $220 which is what the swan M10 and headphone amp with a variable out would cost you.
