I got a pair of samson sr850s. They are ultralight and do not seem to bother me. So far at least.

 

I have found that the best sound setting is the one that interferes the least with the games pure output. So home cinema and straight stereo all the way through after that. Audio creation, bit perfect playback.

 

I play competition BF. In metro, I can hear them if they are 200 yards on the floor above to the left and even what they are saying.

Seems like the sound is best when not altered at all. I use it straight without any enhancements for best directional sound. Using home cinema for greatest dynamic range.

Yup. Run the game like normal 2ch, use home cinema and turn off "Enhanced Stereo Mode". Positional audio is great with this game. War tapes are fun also :)

Interestingly enough, I switched from optical to coax, enabled dolby headphone 2 and gaming on my receiver and I could hear footsteps better! Not sure about the directional sound yet though. Seems like there is a fraction of delay there. Not bad though. I am so dang sensitive it is frustrating sometimes. That is also why I still have to use a crt instead of an lcd.

Just seen this thread so i thought i would post here before creating a new one...

 

Is this the best setup...if so should i set should i set the ti HD to game mode or audio creation or entertainment mode? Also what about in windows... 5.1 or stereo? 

 

Tried lots of things with my titanium HD and dt770´s but cant get great positional audio...if tihs isn the best setup could someone post what is :D

 

My headphones arent doldby digital btw, just stereo

Xonar -> 8 Speakers/Channels, DHP 2 (middle) - Windows set to 7.1

X-Fi -> Headphones --> CMSS-3D enabled -> Windows set to 7.1

BF3 --> user.cfg in root folder. Add the following lines:

GstAudio.SoundSystemSize 71
GstAudio.StereoMode 0

BF3 ingame -> HOME CINEMA

I have an M-Audio Revolution 7.1 and a stereo headset.  No matter what settings I try, the Windows test only outputs sound on 6 channels.  Besides having a friend run circles around you, is there any way to do an in-game test?

Ok thanks allot mate...so you disagree with the posts above that use Audio Creation? And Does it matter where i add the lines in user.cfg ?

Used to have War Tapes on but it sounds so much better with Home Cinema.

 

Windows/ Xonar panel: 6 channels

Home Cinema

Enhanced Stereo: OFF
