Closed headphone suggestion under 150...

So I am new to this, i usually listen to music through my avr but as life changes I cant always do that and I need a decent set of headphones for 60 percent of my listening now.

Budget has to be under 150 i wont go any higher.

I guess I would take open headphone recomendations if they dont leak sound to much. From my research I like the sound of closed headphones because i dont want people a few feet from me hearing the music. I also listen to music typically with other background sound going such as the tv ect.., i dont know if this all makes open headphones a bad choice but i would assume so. I was looking at Sennheisers 558 but i crossed it off my list because i read reviews they leak sound badly.

I looked at a ton of reviews and am simply left more confused then ever. I looked at Audio-Technica ATH-M50, Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro, Fischer FA-011, Shure SRH840

.... and any others i have not looked at.

For music i mainly listen to rock, i hate overpowering bass, now dont get me wrong, i like bass but have always been taught

bass should blend in with the music. Perhaps that fits my style of music listening.

Thank you in advance.

I also should mention my soundcard is an x-fi forte, i dont know if that will limit my options. I  use the forte spdif bitstreamed to my avr when i use that, but more importantly I use the headphone output as well and would be using it to drive the headphones. I purchased it at the time because I was told it had a surprisngly good headphone amp. The buzzing problem was also fixed by auzentech. I dont use the analog stereo outputs.

Shure SRH840 is the only one I've heard out of the bunch so I'd go with that. The talk is that DT 770 is treble focused and might not be the best for rock.

The dt770's 250Ohm with a good amp sounds like its right up your alley.

I think right now I would probably take the DT770 based on my research between the above headphones.

However im still unsure about the open headphone category. I keep reading how the soundstage is better, but I also have background noise such as tv or talking near me, and i also dont want people clearly hearing what im listening to.

Is there an open headphone that would be better then the DT770 in that price range, that does not leak sound badly?

You could probably find an open box/refurbished a900/a700 for a great deal. I bought my a700 refurbished 2 years ago and it looked new for 76 off amazon.

Superlux HD-668B

Samson SR850 (made by Superlux)

Both are semi-open headphones

Well I am still struggling, I was looking at the Ultrasone HFI-580 now.

However alot of these headphones keep saying bass bass bass, which would be the best in my price range for vocal centered music, and rock, folk, indie rock, sort of music?

I am just debating based on prefrences and strong points of headphones.

Sounds like you want a Grado but they're open ~ sadly those genres love a natural, open can sound

Certainly in your price range.
