Not quite as much, K601's can be used as a background speaker! but certainly in the same league as an Sr80i.

I'm back from a listening session and it's clear that I need closed cans.

I listened to the HD598, HD558 and AKG K-141.

I liked the HD558 more then the HD598, but both leak too much for my work situation. The K-141 was nice too, but I can't stand the pads. The size is too small and the material is too sweaty. Regarding leaking, the K-141 was great.

Are the K-272 HD the same size as the K-601? How does the K-272 HD compare to the K-601 and K-141 SQ-wise?

I posted a reply here, but for some reason it didn't come trough.

Anyway, it looks like the K-272 HD are the right size.

How would the Beyerdynamic DT-100/16 compare to the K-272 HD? Aesthetics are not the strongest point of the Beyers. But how's the soundsignature compared to the AKGs.

Does anyone know how the K-601 compares to the K-272 HD? (regarding SQ)

And what about the Ultrasone HFI 580? How do they sound compared to the AKGs?

The GMP 8.35 are great directly from my laptop, no amp needed. smile_phones.gif

I Think I'll go for the Superlux HD662 and use that untill I got a chance tolisten to some more higher priced closed back headphones. I would like to compare the K-272 HD to my own K-601. Also the HFI-580 would be a nice comparison to my AKG and Sennheiser.

The Superlux will be my reference closed back headphones then (this does not mean I already see them as the best, there's a difference wink.gif).

If anyone thinks I should go for a different model in the Superlux line they can just shout. I will be ordering in a few days.

I went for the HD-662 F and the HD-668 B. My colleague went for the HD-662 B and also for the HD-668 B.smily_headphones1.gif

We'll see/hear what these Superlux's have to offer.

I've heard that the Samson SR850 (made by Superlux) is better sounding then the HD-668B.

If I don't like the 668, I'll keep that in mind.

I'm using the HD-668 B at work now. I'm really happy with them.

Although I don't mind the stock ear-pads I'm wondering if these would also fit? My K-601 has velour pads and those are really nice on the ears.

The HD-662 F works really well too, but I like the HD-668 B just a little more. I think the lower mids are just that little bit better. The HD-662 F might be a little bit more neutral in the bass region.

It's just a completely different experience. One is closed (HD-662 F) and the other is "semi"-open.
