Foobar 2000 wasapi and proper settings

I just have a couple questions which im having trouble finding answers to.

I currently own an x-fi forte and am curious about settings with foobar if anyone can answer these for me it would be greatly appreciated.

1.I am unsure if i should use 16 bit with dither, or 24bit? My collection is all flac.

2.This ones really bothering me.

In my forte i have selected to output bit matched mode, but also output stereo mix using digital output. This allows sound to come out both my headphone and to my avr at the same time, and i really like this feature. However when I do this do sound cards or especially the forte still output digital audio bitstremead and analog audio to my headphones. Or is this setting bad? I dont know if it interferes with outputting 2 channel digital audio over spdif for music.

3. With the regards to the above I ask this question because in foobar when I select wasapi:spdif i only get sound over spdif, but if I select wasapi:Speakers I get sound from headphones and spdif which is what Im like. But im curious if im doing something bad here?

Oh and one other question, why does the buffer size not have any effect in foobar when direct sound is selected?
