JVC HA-FX1X (Xtreme Xplosive) (Impressions)(Hopefully Fan Thread) - Page 19

Edit:

Now that I have the FX3X, I cannot recommend them highly enough. They are the 1X refined in every way; build quality to sound quality.

I hope this does not count as necro! biggrin.gif

Does anyone know how to tell if they're fakes or not?

I've bought two headphones so far, the 3X on eBay, and the 1X "by JVC and sold by amazon", so these looked legit.

The 3X are clearly fake, as you can compare the metal body and the differences are right at your face.

As for the 1X, they look fake but I don't have any reference point.. They say made in China on the box/package; also on the package, it says JVC in white letters under the big XX on the little box thingy where the items are kept; the logo at the cord junction is greyish (like a washed out white); they smell like rubber/plastic; the plug is made of a soft rubber (feels soft to touch)..

Apart from that, they both sound good, with more bad than any other headphones that I own, but the sound overall seems slightly muffled by the bass!

Some insight would be appreciated! :-)

I just checked JVCs Canadian site and they don't have those in that colour (nor have I ever seen them in that colour in real life). My guess is that they're fakes (I'm not sure though). Personally, if I were you, I would just buy them from a physical store. They're usually available at pretty much every electronics store, and you worry about fakes.

Thanks for the heads-up about the color.
About getting them from a physical store; I live in The Netherlands, they're not only available in a physical store but even not online. Only XX serie we got is the FX101...

just one question. i bought jvc xx fx3x from this seller JVC HA-FX3X Xtreme Xplosives In Ear Canal Stereo Carbon D... on ebay

and they do not have all that much bass. you have to crank up the volume to feel the bass. like when you go outside where there is a lot of noise you bring the volume higher to hear the music, then you hear bass. but on normal use at home because there is less ambient sound i put at lower volume and the bass is almost the same as on iphone earbuds. although the quality of sound is way better than apple earbuds the bass is almost the same on lower volumes. i have to bring volume up in order to hear the bass. they are good if you go outside and listen to music when you are outside because you use higher volume sound and you do hear bass, but at home there is the same bass as on appler earphones. why is that so?

if i buy ebay bass earphones for like 3 euro they will have more bass at lower volumes than jvc fx3x

the good thing though is that on jvc the bass keeps up when you bring up the volume, because on other earphones the only way to get good bass is to listen at lower volume sound. once you bring the volume higher the bass does not get any better. on jvc fx3x on the other the bass gets more bass, and the highs and mids are not muffled at all, which it is on my subwoofer sony srs d25 speakers.

i feel like for home they are not that good for bass because of that reason of no descent bass at lower volume sound. is that the same for other people that have these earphones? also there is no way for me to know for sure if it is real jvc, since there is no serial number anywhere on the packaging or earphones. and i am not sure if they have serial number written on them.

any ideas in relation to bass? or am i extreme lover of bass and i need another earphones with more bass than these ones? or am i deaf or something? or it is just this pair of the earphones? or it is the seller selling knock off onse. but he did declare that they are a 100% original jvc. so no idea. and people do not seem to say that they are fake in reviews.

thanks

They're a fake...from your description there is no way those are real. Either that or you just have a horrible seal.
