I'm getting an iphone 4s 16gb. Do any of you who have an iphone know what i should expect?

Particularly sound quality and durability wise. I am getting a 3 year contract for $50 a month. Are they durable? Do they sound better then the ipod touch 2g? Do they weigh a lot? How fast are they? What new features should i be looking forward to?

I would like to comment on the durability. Although Apple claims that the iPhone is made of strong glass (those used in helicopters), they are very fragile. My friend had his iphone dropped from a "safe" height and it cracked. Go look in youtube for stress tests on the iPhone compared to other smartphones such as the S2 / Nexus. On speed, the 4S is currently the fastest phone so don't worry and be happy. I cannot comment on the sound quality because I never listened to the 4S (only heard the 4, and there is no/very little difference compared to the iPod touch 2G/4G). Hope you liked them!

Would a rubber case make a big difference?

Yeap, sure it will. Btw, I thought contracts have insurance that covers accidental damage/total lost goods.

I've got the 4, had it for quite a while now. The glass hasn't gotten major scratches--just the minor ones you notice when looking carefully--and I've kept the phone in my pants/jeans pocket, away from coins and keys. If you do likewise, it'll be fine.

I've had 4, and now 4s 64gb. From my experience w/ 4, durability is not that great. I cannot speak for the glass but the stainless steel band got nicked when I was drivin' and had it rest on the armrest inside a suede sleeve and it fell over during a pretty moderate turn. I remember how they boasted about their cnc-machined band but as an automation engineer myself that design cnc cps, I know it means nothing more than it is to perform very specific tasks w/ a very high degree of precision. Just a marketing gimmick to brainwash the ill-informed masses and overwhelm them w/ technical jargons in hopes that they would take them as some kind of bleeding edge stuff. Well rest assured it's no rocket science. smily_headphones1.gif

 

Weight wise, I previously had it compared to galaxy s2 that my co-worker has and compared to that, it definitely is heavier but I like the weight of iphones. Gives me a good feel that it's made of solid, quality parts unlike some cheap plastic rear that sgs2 has.

I'm starting to re think purchasing an iphone. If i get a cheaper phone i could buy the shure srh940. But i really want an iphone.

I charge mine overnight and generally it's at 60% or more when I go to bed.  That's with about 3 hours of music playing, a few phone calls, some email via push, a handful of text messages, and some use of news & weather apps, and some Apple remote use.  Most of my time is either at work or at home and I connect via WiFi at both so I don't pull a lot of data over 3G (about 20MB for the past 10 days).

I have decided to get an iphone 4 32gb instead of a 4s 16gb. Both are the same price but the iphone 4 has more space.

IP4 is a good source Casey.  Nice clean signal.  I actually just use the HP out most of the time - and it's find for either my B2s or MS1is.

 

Get the Equalizer app if you'd like a decent equaliser.
